Education

I attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. I graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Kindergarten-6th and a minor in Early Childhood Education. I hold a WI teaching license and a MS teaching license.

Experience

This will be my 21st year teaching. I have taught 4-year-old kindergarten-3rd grade; 2 years in 4-year-old kindergarten, 8 years in kindergarten, 2 years in 1st grade, 1 year in 2nd grade, 2 years in 3rd grade, and 4 years in K/1 transition. I absolutely love early elementary, especially kindergarten.

Bio

I am originally from Wisconsin, born and bred a Cheesehead!!! I have 2 amazing children, Elizabeth married to Tim and Clayton married to Sarah.  Elizabeth received her master's degree in Occupational Therapy at UT- Health and Science Center. Clayton is in the United States Air Force and is an aerospace propulsion engineer. My daughter-in-law is a stay-at-home mom for my beautiful granddaughter Brooklyn. Brooklyn turned 2 in June 2020 and is my ray of sunshine!

I am engaged to Calvin and together we have enjoyed blending our families. He has a daughter, Leslie, and twin sons, Caleb and Josh. We work hard to build each other up, build our children up, and make this world a better place. On our walk as Christians, we want to be the best servants that we can be.

I am the baby of 4 children. I have a sister, Debbie, and 2 brothers, Mark and Mike. I have an absolutely wonderful mother who taught me how to be an independent lady. My father passed away 6 years ago and I miss him dearly. He was my strength and foundation, the one I called when I needed to talk. I know he is in heaven and I know one day I will see him again.

I moved down south in 2001 leaving my amazing family behind. It was hard but I have learned to adjust to the south. I am still a die-hard Packer and Badgers fan, carrying on the Schmitt tradition. I love life and live by the quote, "Live Well, Laugh Often, and Love Much!"
